Life & Legacy

Lior Arzi, son of Orit and Nir, was born on the 22nd of Kislev, 5758 (December 20, 1997) in Kibbutz Givat Haim Ihud, where he grew up. He was the brother of Moran, Sivan, and Neta, and the partner of Maya. He attended Misgav Elementary School and later Shahar Ma’ayan School for middle and high school, where he studied biology and computer science. During high school, Lior was a counselor in the kibbutz’s youth movement. He later spent a year of service in Hatzor HaGlilit, working with local youth.

Lior was known for his unforgettable smile, his humility, and his strong moral compass, as well as the warmth and kindness he showed to everyone around him. He was deeply loved by his many friends and known for his sense of humor, ambition, and instinct to help anyone in need.

In 2017, Lior enlisted in the Israeli Air Force and served in the elite Shaldag Unit. After completing his training, he was selected to attend the IDF Paramedic Course. Upon returning, he began serving as a combat paramedic in his unit. Alongside his military service, Lior volunteered with Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical service. He was in the midst of advanced training to become an ALS team leader, preparing to lead a mobile intensive care ambulance. Lior planned to begin medical school in March 2024.

Lior fell in battle during the Swords of Iron War on the 19th of Cheshvan, 5784 (November 3, 2023). He was 25 years old. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant.
